Modern Jive Club Classes
Every Wednesday. Learn modern jive with Juke Jive: contact Lynn and Pete on 01252 872225
Lynn and Pete Nowne have been with us at West End Social Club teaching Modern Jive for the last 7 years, previously doing some stage work, teaching dance for adult education and then running their own children’s classes in Fleet. Originally they came to us for a 6 weeks trial period after being nagged by former students to start lessons for beginners. They had said that they were too busy to fit it in, but they eventually gave in and luckily the class just took off and they have been here teaching ever since.
The class has now progressed from our members learning to dance to becoming a regular social gathering with old and new friends attending the classes. Basically the class is still run as a small, friendly, hands-on Wednesday night function but has recently grown and now there are top notch rock and roll bands playing here at WESC every month. These are normally held on the 2nd Friday of each month.
The music played on Jive Club evenings is a mix of pop, blues, country rock and of course rock and roll with a large proportion of our members attending dance weekends around the country. Their main aim is to get anyone and everyone learning to dance, keeping fit but more than this, making new friends with us here at West End Club.
